Basic Information

The Saturday Morning Math Group is a UT sponsored outreach program aimed at junior high and high school students, their teachers, and their parents. A background in beginning algebra and basic geometry is expected, but is often unnecessary. It is free and no registration is required. We meet about four times per semester on Saturday mornings from 10:00 am - 12 noon. Please join us!

Next Meeting

Our first meeting of the semester will take place on September 6. Our guest will be Dr. Terry McCabe of the Texas State University Department of Mathematics. Dr. McCabe will talk about "Visual Models In Algebraic Understanding." This will be an interactive presentation, with plenty of problems for students to work on. We hope to see you there!

New Location! This semester, our meetings will be in FAC 21. FAC is the Flawn Academic Center, which is where our undergraduate library is situated. This building is immediately to the east of the Texas Union, near 24th and Guadalupe.

The Austin Math Circle

The Austin Math Circle is a math and problem solving club for students in the Austin area, sponsored by SMMG. Each month, we'll get together and do an in-depth exploration of a topic from algebra, geometry, number theory, combinatorics, probability, or logic. Our first meeting of the semester will take place on Saturday, September 27.

The Math Circle, like SMMG, is free and open to anyone who wishes to attend.
