Problem Solving Challeng

Basic Information

The Saturday Morning Math Group is a UT sponsored outreach program aimed at junior high and high school students, their teachers, and their parents. A background in beginning algebra and basic geometry is expected, but is often unnecessary. It is free and no registration is required. We meet about four times per semester on Saturday mornings from 10:00 am - 12 noon. Please join us!

Next Meeting

Our last meeting of the semester will take place on May 2nd.  Our speaker will be Dr. Mark Daniels, a professor of mathematics and math education here at the University of Texas at Austin.  Come join the fun!

This semester, our meetings will be in FAC 21. FAC is the Flawn Academic Center, which is where our undergraduate library is situated. This building is immediately to the east of the Texas Union, near 24th and Guadalupe.

The Austin Math Circle

The Austin Math Circle is a math and problem solving club for students in the Austin area, sponsored by SMMG. Each month, we'll get together and do an in-depth exploration of a topic from algebra, geometry, number theory, combinatorics, probability, or logic.

This semester, in an effort to accommodate more people, we will be holding Math Circle meetings on Sundays, 1-3 PM rather than Saturdays.  Our meetings will be held in RLM 4.102.  RLM is R.L. Moore Hall, the location of UT's department of mathematics.  RLM is the tall building on the corner of 26th and Speedway.

The Math Circle, like SMMG, is free and open to anyone who wishes to attend.
