Important General Information:

1. If a student is absent from a test and wishes to be given a make-up test, then he or she must formally request this within 48 HOURS of the test missed. The request, which must be supported by a properly documented excuse, must be presented to the student's instructor. If you are the least bit uncertain as to the validity of an excuse based on some previously scheduled, upcoming event, then seek approval for a make-up before the exam in question, not after the fact.

2. To succeed in M408L students need to develop good study habits and to seek assistance whenever and wherever it is provided. Students are particularly encouraged to attend discussion groups regularly and to seek help from the Teaching Assistant for the section for which they are registered. Additional help is available at the UT Learning Center (UTLC) in Jester A332. It will offer the following programs to all U.T. students taking M408L in Spring, 2006.

Students who wish to use these services should go to the UTLC main office in Jester A332. Office hours are Monday through Friday from 9-5. Check also the web site http://www.utexas.edu/student/utlc

3. Academic Communities Program
Sunday - Thursday evenings. See website.
Jester Dormitory (Jester City Limits, 1st floor, 7:30-10:00 pm)
Kinsolving Dormitory (KIN dining entry area, 8-10 pm)
The College of Natural Sciences has created the Academic Communities (AC) Program for M408K, M408L as well as CH301, CH302, Bio311C and Bio311D to encourage group study and independent thinking. AC will be staffed by teaching assistants and undergraduates.

4. Students who fall under the University's Learning Disability Policy must present the Dean of Student's certification of that fact to the student's instructor prior to the first test.

5. Calculators may be used on the homework but may not be used on any tests.
